A Fantastic Year Indeed

2012 has drawn to a close, and has been filled with much change as well as the the introduction of many new donors. Much of our time has been spent handing over food and groceries to our various beneficiaries, as well as those outside of our ‘regular’ scope. Our Active Learning Drive also kicked off this year – a fund that was set up to combat learning barriers by means of the provision of various educational materials. You can learn more about our Active Learning Drive from this page.

In addition, we’ve altered they way in which we handle our Christmas Fund. Previously, we would select one beneficiary, and throw a Christmas party for them at a predefined venue, such as the Lekgotla Restaurant in Nelson Mandela Square. Now, in 2012, we felt the need to change that. By partnering with some of our corporate donors, we held parties for three different beneficiaries: two at the homes themselves, and another at a restaurant which was kind enough to let us use their venue for the day. The homes that enjoyed gifts from Santa, meals, and much more, were the St. Mary’s Children’s Home, SOS Children’s Villages Mamelodi, and the Noah Community (their Phumelelo Ark in Muldersdrift was selected).

We’d like to extend a huge word of thanks our various donors that made these events possible, as well as those who have been assisting us throughout the year with our various projects and funds. It is thanks to you that we’re able to cater for over 700 children, providing them with things they need the most.

We’d also like to take this opportunity to extend a special thanks to those donors who have supported us through various public charity fundraisers. ACI held an annual charity golf day for us, and ABSA Capital selected us one of the beneficiaries for the 94.7 Cycle Challenge. These funds raised from these two events will, without a doubt, go a long way to ensuring that our goals are met. Thank you!

The photographs in the slider below are from all three events, and in the order of the beneficiaries mentioned above.

We would like to wish everyone reading this a fantastic and prosperous New Year ahead. 2013 is another year of change, and we can’t wait to put smiles on more faces.

Note: Noah Community requested that we keep the children’s identities anonymous, so we have complied by modifying the photos accordingly.
