Ithembelihle Lsen School to the Lory Park Zoo

Saturday, 27 April, the Ithembelihle Lsen School (from Primrose, Johannesburg) was treated to a special day out at the Lory Park Animal & Owl Sanctuary in Midrand.

The 34 children that attended were first treated to introductory drinks and snacks for their tour around the zoo, where they had the opportunity (some for the first time) to see various animals, from bengal tigers, cheetas and white lions, to African Grey’s and a bearded dragon (quite rare, I believe from my last encounter).

The children were shown around, and taught about the various animals in the park – where in the world they came from, how tall they get, and what they eat.

Shortly after, they were able to have some fun in the jumping castle, relax, and have a braai with us. During lunch, some of the children stood up to share their word of thanks for the day – we were very appreciative of this.

We’d like to extend a special word of thanks to the donors who assisted by funding this project. It was a wonderful day indeed.

We’re in the process of creating a small video and photo log for our website (it will be posted here on this page). In addition, donors who would like a DVD-copy of this log are more the welcome to request one. You can contact us directly, our use our contact form.
